The End Cometh

Image
Not the end of the world, well not that I know of, just the end of July. Greetings all😀. It's raining, English rain rather than monsoon rain which has been the rain character of the early part of this seasons rainy season. And what have I been up to? One thing I have not been doing is out looking at the sky and being dazzled by a wonderful meteor shower which the all knowing internet says see can see now. The rainclouds say otherwise. I seem to have got part way to sorting the tech and today or tomorrow I should be able to start the final configuration and I have been a walk, one of necessity being month end and here it is  Plus, as a bonus, as I am preparing the end on month slideshow for the real "Per Magica Ad Astra" blog slideshow and all that here is a little look at some snaps, set to tasteful music. I pay to have AI cull my images and these are the ones it says would be this months must see on social media. Really😖 What-ho... Coffee.

A couple of walks and a dash for cover

Hello all and another exciting day here in Chiang Mai. Well not really, in fact it was about as routine as you can get in rainy season. I knew I was off to the pub in the evening for the F1 so I thought I would slip a little lunchtime stroll in as well. It was a bit of a  wander round the block and the snaps I took were of the graven images I saw there. This morning the Idle Editor in me got a litlle carried away trying to enhance one of them so here is what I came up with; Hey up, and here is the Relive Later it was off to the Red Lion for the Belgian F1 qualifying. I hadn't gone far when the error of my "should be ok, they haven't forecast rain yet" was shown to me with a prtactical demonstration by nature and I had to take shelter. It was 30 minutes before it eased enough to rrestart the ramble. Not to worry into the city, a bite to eat, a quick chat with a friend and off to try and get a haircut which, at the first attempt, was unsuccesful. So I went for a couple...

Oh Doctor

Image
Hello all. Yep another stunning Relive Video but this time because I just fancied changing the music to a non standard one I decided to turn it into a very short video. I can do that you know, years of experience that is forgotten as soon as I try to remember what the hell it was I wanted to do in the first place. And the video... I had a follow up to the bloods and body analysis I had done earlier in the week and as I was feeling a little more confident that my dickey gut was on the mend, I was confident that the 10km walk was a realistic objective. I had, as I found out, been perhaps a little too optimistic and should you see little deviations from the route in the video it is probably a quick detour in to a service station bog, a rather complimentary term for some of them😁 But I got to the docs was told to stop enjoying life and rethink my diet. I needed time to consider this so I took a little stroll into the city. Along the way there was a funeral procession for a monk, the ...

The Tax man cometh

Image
Morning on another July overcast start to the day, not that I mind it being overcast, the clouds keep the sun away. It is that time of year when the ol' jalopy has to go through it's Thai MOT, be reinsured for the coming year and pay the road tax in exchange for which they give you a nice colourful piece of paper to stick in the windshield. Yes we still have paper tax discs here and I cant imagine it ever changing whilst there are cars on the road. It's all locally done here, road tax car registration. Talk about job creation, it's a great scheme. Prior to getting the disc I needed to have the MOT and insurance sorted which was fine after I has actually got to the place to do it. Getting there was a bit of a pain, ATM's out of service, rush hour traffic blah blah but it all got sorted and then, on a wonderful overcast morning, I set out on a most enjoyable stroll to complete the payment of the taxes due and get a brand new paper disc for the windshield. Here's t...

The Ease Back Stroll

Image
Hello fellow followers of the even more bizarre US Presidential race where, depending on your view, the camera angle and parallax one of the joint leaders in the race pulled up, presumable lame as we entered the final 4 furlongs. Has this trumped Trump's close call where he avoided being put down by a narrow head. A for life in Chiang Mai, a quiet weekend as the prohibitionists dented the spreading of wealth by banning alcohol sales all weekend😖 So I cant blame an off pint for the bad gut that afflicted me all Monday. By Tuesday, although definitely weakened, I felt I could just manage a gentle stroll. So I did. The Relive below has me finding a motorbike key, I handed it in to the nearby security at the entrance to a housing estate but I doubt anyone will claim it. And you my also see a reference to "pick-pocket" as when I walked past the food vendors stall the cover was flicked out, caught my pocket and extracted my wallet by the attached cord. Here you go in glorious...

Flowers and fowl

Greetings on This Monday morning. Today is a holiday in Lieu of the Buddha day falling at the weekend and today there is no prohibition on the sale of alcohol. My wife's Korean guests were pretty shocked they could not only go out to a bar for a beer last night but they could not even go and buy a few cans for private consumption. Not unless you know which shops are not so strict😮 oops, I didn't say that. Fortunately there were a few abandoned cans of Singha lying abandoned in need of a home that they came across. Apart from that there was the F1 race at the Hungaroring which looks to me a bit like an overgrown go-cart track but a proper track nevertheless. The McLaren drivers did the job which is more than I can say for the team bosses / strategists. Bet you will be surprised  to know I had a nice little wander which in time I want to make into a better video than you get just from the bog standard Relive. That'll be later but for now here are a few flowers and a chicken...

Skin and Stinky

Image
 Yup another walk worth posting the Relive of... Maybe. Here the Relive; Did you see the little lady I bumped into after the Stinky canal? OK I didn't physically bump into her but she was such a nice girl and as I just loved her head gear I tweaked a snap of her. Here it is;

Wet, dry, keep walking

Hello again. Another "better stick this on via Blogger to try and ensure Farce Buk doesn't ban it as spam. In truth it was just a pretty standard walk into the city, a minor variation on the short route as I crossed  highway 11 using the Big C tunnel. Mind you no sooner had I emerged from the subterrainian sanctuary and the heavens opened and I had to duck for cover. It didn't last long and the rst of the walk jut had light showers, nothing to really put me off my stride. Even the train at the level crossing didn't really hold me up, especially as I forgot to tap record on the phone as it passed until the last second. But what I did see was the smallest toad (or was it  a frog) I have ever seen. Here is the #Relive; Here is a snap of the little toad And that was the little walk into the city on a wet and dry Wednesday. Coffee.

Cross city relive.

As Tang way at the doctors yesterday, I decided aa nice wander back to the Red Lion was in order. Most enjoyable, here's the Relive... And if you are wondering what the bit in the park was 🕺

Facebook did it again.

Yep, my Sunday Wanders to the city was deleted by Facebook as spam so I think the way round it is to have a blog site for whenever my Relieves are part of the post. What really pissed me off about having yesterdays post is the copy I had created, which, just in case they decide to delete it I copy. But yesterday they Farce😡book police didn't delete the post immediately so by the time I knew I was at the end of another wander. So here it is as a recap, minus the copy unfortunately.
